Merryn makes for M.E.

Young sufferer Merryn Crofts has been busy!

So far she's raised over £100 for Invest in ME by selling her gorgeous bracelets (right).

As you can see, she uses blue beads to represent the M.E. awareness ribbon and each bracelet has a 'Hope' charm (which Merryn tells us stands for 'Hold on, Pain Ends'!)

If you'd like to purchase a bracelet they are £4.00 in the UK, including postage, or $7.00 in the US.

Merryn's PayPal address is merryn.crofts@hotmail.co.uk

(The account is in her mum's name, so don't be disconcerted if it says Clare Crofts after paying.)

Let's show Merryn our support and help her raise money for vital biomedical research!

These bracelets would make a wonderful gift for Mother's Day, as a treat for yourself or a pressie for a friend. A real bargain at £4.00 each, and supporting a great cause.

Keep up the fantastic work, Merryn!

Be ME Valentine?

With our foggy brains it's often hard to keep track of our rapidly passing time, so here's a reminder:

"Don't forget about love
at this special time of year."

With Valentine's Day in a mere 10 days time it's important to pay tribute to the people and things we love.

Show people how much we care for them, rekindle lost passions, revisit things you used to love or give something new a chance!

It doesn't matter if it's a person, animal, plant, mineral or theoretical concept - get some love in your life!

For those with loves ones why not treat them (or yourself!) to some of our gorgeous handmade goods, and help raise vital funds for biomedical research at the same time? We have lots of love themed crafts available, and even more sparkly things and gorgeous goodies that make you go "Ooooooooh!". Have a gander at just a small selection of what contributors are selling for charity!

Kelly's Kitch has some gorgeous love heart jewellery available, with spoons, wings of hope and the M.E. ribbon to help raise awareness. Bag charms and more are available through Facebook.

Stuck for cards? Never fear! Eleri Haf Designs and Puresunrays Cards have got it covered!

Give your Mum some big love before Mother's Day with these special lavender hearts (left) from Hand Sewn (also available blank, should your mother not deserve such extravagance! :P)

Or why not check out the new range of jewellery available from 100 Birdies for ME (right)? They're spooning the season away with loved ones, so why don't you?

This is just a tiny portion of what our Make MEers have created, so please do check out even more via the website and on Facebook and get a special someone, even if that special someone is you, a special Valentine's treat.

If you're spending the season alone don't fret! You can still find love: Love of a new hobby or interest! Why not give some kind of craft a go?

Many people with chronic illness struggle to achieve tasks and end up having to break things down into chunks. Unfortunately, this can't be done with a great number of hobbies and undertakings available to other people.

But all is not lost! There are still things we CAN do, bit by bit, as and when we feel up to it. For some ideas of what you could do just follow this blog! We'll be updating regularly with crafty new ideas for the new year. You may even find a long-lost passion or replace a hobby you can no longer do, and get that productive "I've accomplished something" feeling back in your life!

Whatever you get up to this month, try to fill as many moments as possible with love and appreciation of all kinds!

Love and peace to you all, from Foggy bear and his crafty crew.

You can find us tomorrow opposite Millets on Palmerston Road, Southsea, for Love Southsea's Christmas Craft Market. Stalls are open from 9:00 until 5:30, so come along and get some great Christmas pressies, stocking fillers and cards!

Don't miss out on all the wonderful crafts our incredible contributors have made for charity!

Apologies to all contributors who have not yet featured in the Stall Superstars blogs. I've been struggling a bit with everything I'm juggling at the moment, so haven't been able to get them done. But never fear, for come the New Year we'll revere all your crafts with some more festive cheer!

Thank you all so much for everything you've helped us achieve this year!

Christmas time is coming!

With less than a month to go until Christmas we're closing in on our final stall before the holidays!

All our gorgeous goodies will be available on Palmerston Road, Southsea on Saturday 15th December. Pop on by between 9:00 and 17:30 to stock up on stocking fillers (and stockings for that matter!), tree decorations and all sorts of other wonderful pressies for family and friends - and all in the name of charity! Look out for the blue and white Make ME gazebo.

We've worked out that enough money was raised at our last event to cover the stall costs for this event as well! So any and all profits we make on sales on the 15th are going directly to Invest in ME!

We're anticipating high footfall at this event, so want to stock up as much as possible. If there are any contributors or crafters who'd like to send anything in or make a donation of crafts to the stall it would be greatly appreciated.

Please email admin@makemecrafts.com for address details or to get involved.

Watch this space for more stall superstars, and posts about the kind of things you can expect to see on the 15th December!

Should you see anything you'd like from the stall and be unable to reach us on the day just email admin@makemecrafts.com and we'll do our utmost to provide you with our wonderful wares!

The stall will be taking a bit of a break at the start of next year, but will definitely be back after a couple of months recuperation. As such, anything that doesn't sell at our Palmerston Road event will be going up on the website for some great last minute Christmas deals!

Merry Christmas from Foggy Bear and the rest of the Make ME team! :)

Our Stall Superstars: Take 4

Diana Hamilton is the creative genius behind '100 birdies 4 ME', making these stunning felt birds to raise money for biomedical M.E. research.

Her birdies are all handmade and expertly stitched, and you can tell that real love and care went into their creation. The hanging birdies would be ideal adornments for your Christmas tree, during the holiday season.

When the holidays are over they'd look just as good hanging on a hook somewhere, to add some colour to your walls.

As for her brooches, well, they'd look good on a jacket all year round, don't you think? If you're sporting a poppy for remembrance why not also don a birdie for ME awareness?

Diana started making her birdies after attending Leeds craft club, in an effort to get out and about. She came up with these little creatures as part of a 'craft garden' for Light Night Leeds 2011.

After the exhibition she had more birdies on her hands than she knew what to do with, and decided to sell them to raise money for the 'Let's do it for ME!' campaign!

Her aim is to make and sell 100 of these beautiful birdies for the 'Let's do it for ME!' campaign. She's currently up to 51! Let's see if we can help her reach 100 by Christmas!

Diana's creations are available on the Make ME website, and her blue birdies (left) and brooches (above) are currently featuring on the stall (don't forget that our next one is Sunday 18th November at Portsmouth Guildhall!)

She also sells through Folksy and is in the process of setting up her own website. She is also on Facebook and Twitter.

So, let's help her do it for ME and buy a birdie for Christmas! They'd make a lovely gift and you'd be helping to raise awareness - not to mention the fact that they're just gorgeous!

You can follow her progress towards her goal on both Facebook and Twitter (appropriate for birdies). Give her page a like at: https://www.facebook.com/100Birdies4ME or follow her at @100Birdies4ME and help spread the word about these cuddly critters!

Please share widely with friends and family, or anyone you think may appreciate this delicate display of craftsmanship.

Thank you, Diana! You're another stall superstar!

Our next stall superstar is the stunning Sally Burch, who created the pattern for her Scruffy Ponies from scratch, based on toys her great aunt used to make!

They come in every possibly hue and each and every pony is handmade with love.

Sally has poured heart and soul into these colourful creations, and has even taken the time to walk us step by step through the creative process, via her blog! Please see the link below:

Our Stall Superstars: Take 2

Our next featured crafter is the wonderfully talented Trudi Berridge, who very generously donated a large quantity of jewellery for our first stall.

We originally had around 200 bracelets, necklackes, brooches, rings and keyrings from her, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to Invest in ME!

These colourful creations have proven to be very popular and continue to sell well at our events.

With Christmas on the approach they'd make excellent stocking fillers!

We even have a range of Christmas themed ones, with reindeer charms or little bottles full of tiny candy canes! These will feature on the stall from November onwards.

Many thanks go out to Trudi for all her hard work. You're a stall superstar, really "doing it for ME!"

Don't forget our next stall is a week today - 27th October 2012 at The Spring in Havant! Please see our events page for more details.

Our Stall Superstars: Take 1

In the lead up to Christmas I thought it might be nice to remind people what we've got available from our wonderful sellers via Make ME, both on the stall and online.

It wouldn't hurt to pay tribute to these wonderful people "doing it for M.E." and call attention to their outstanding talents, inspirational strength and their courage in crafting for research, either!

First on our list (which I stress is in no particular order) is the Kent clan, who have been plastering the Make ME Facebook page with a dizzying array of creations in their ever expanding enterprise!

Maddison Kent started making bracelets just a few months ago to raise funds for Invest in ME. In that short time the Kent family have gone craft mad, now selling cushion covers, wooden signs, hanging heart decorations, bunting, Christmas decorations, stockings, keyrings and more!

Through their creative efforts the Kent family have managed to raise just under £1,000 via their Just Giving page alone!

To check out her stunning range of available crafts just take a look at Maddi's albums on the Make ME Facebook page.

Some of the Kent Crafts are available to purchase via the Make ME website. For any that aren't please contact them for details through Maddi's own page: https://www.facebook.com/Maddikentbracelets4me (and give her a big like while you're there!)
